Muon g-2 at Fermilab

Just one of many large-scale physics experiments worldwide using Lake Shore thermometry technology. Diode sensors are used for monitoring cryogenic temperatures of the 52-foot-wide superconducting particle storage ring, with 240 Series input modules converting analog temperature signals to digital for direct transmittal to the facility’s PLC.

Arnold, a leader in permanent magnets and assemblies, uses Lake Shore fluxmeters and Helmholtz coils to ensure consistency in manufacturing, and our gaussmeters and Hall probes (single axis and 3-axis) to test finished assemblies for products as critical as undersea oil valves and high-performance motors.
